"If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another." — 1 John 1:7
New years often come with fresh starts, but darkness rarely leaves on its own. Patterns remain unless they are brought into the light. Secrets weaken men. Confession strengthens them.
Walking in the light does not mean sinless living; it means honest living. God’s grace does not meet us in pretense, but in truth. The light exposes, yes, but it also heals.
This year will not be different because the calendar changed. It will be different if you choose truth over hiding. Freedom always begins with light.
The BFC Field Test (Mark's Perspective)
In 15 years of prison ministry, I've seen men build walls inside of walls. The "secret" is always the same—it's the thing they think will kill their reputation, but keeping it inside is what's actually killing their soul.
At Brothers for Christ, we apply this in Uganda. When we drill a well, we aren't just bringing water; we are bringing a community into the light of health and shared honesty.
Reflection & Action
Where have you been managing appearances instead of pursuing honesty? Bring one hidden struggle into the light today. Give it to God, and confess it to a trusted brother.
